Columbia, SC – A major renovation and beautification project is underway on Park Street in the Vista between Gervais and Senate Streets, facing several Vista restaurants.

Sidewalks, landscaping, enhanced lighting and outdoor seating areas will be added to provide a better experience for patrons in the area. The restaurants along Park Street, including The Oyster Bar of Columbia, Republic Biergarten & Kitchen, Pot Smokers BBQ, Monterrey Mexican Restaurant and Pearlz Oyster Bar, are open during the construction.

“This will be a delightful improvement for pedestrians in the area,” said Rosie Craig, long-standing board member and founding member of The Congaree Vista Guild. “It’s a long-awaited project that has been in development for many years and is now going to happen. The City of Columbia staff have been incredibly helpful.”

The project is scheduled to be completed by this fall, according to Kristen Puckett, City of Columbia Construction Coordinator.
